Rise · Early-stage partnership

Move now, without the rebuild in eighteen months.

Support. For early-stage companies: we participate directly, supplying engineering resource, technical direction and advice to founders and small businesses building their first products, and stay involved as the company grows.

Talk to us early

Rise is how we work with early-stage companies. We participate in the build rather than quoting for it, supplying engineering resource, technical direction and advice to founders and small businesses, and staying involved as the product finds its market.

The problem it addresses

Early-stage teams rarely fail for want of ideas. They fail because the first technical decisions get made under time pressure by whoever happens to be available, and the cost of those decisions arrives eighteen months later as a rebuild that the roadmap cannot absorb.

Hiring a senior team at that stage is not realistic, and a conventional engagement prices the work as though the company were already funded to enterprise scale. Neither option fits a business that needs to move now and cannot yet carry the overhead.

What Rise provides

Engineering resource

Developers and specialists working on your product, scaled to what the stage actually needs rather than to a fixed team size.

Technical direction

Senior architecture and engineering leadership, so the decisions that are expensive to reverse get made deliberately and early.

Advisory

Regular counsel on technical strategy, hiring and the trade-offs behind a roadmap, from people who have shipped the equivalent before.

Partnership

An arrangement structured for an early-stage company, with the terms and our own exposure discussed openly at the outset.

What you leave Rise with

Artefacts, not a slide deck. Each of these is something your own team can act on without us in the room.

Engineering capacity, now

Developers and specialists on your product, scaled to the stage rather than to a fixed team size.

The expensive decisions, made early

Senior architecture direction while those decisions are still cheap to change.

A technical case an investor can read

The architecture, the risks and the costs, written for the room you are about to be in.

A partner with exposure to the outcome

Terms structured for an early-stage company, and our own stake in it discussed openly.

Who it is for

Early-stage startups and small businesses

You leave with

Momentum: resource, technical direction and a partner invested in the outcome

Where a competitor would stay quiet

The trade-offs

Rise means we are invested in the outcome, and that makes us selective. We work with a small number of early-stage companies at a time and say no more often than yes. It is also not a substitute for a founding technical team. If nobody inside the company can hold a technical decision alongside us, we will tell you that hiring comes before building.
