Discovery · Consultancy & diagnostics
Understand what you have before you build on it.
Consultancy. We work with your teams to understand the data you hold, the processes running on top of it and where optimisation is genuinely available, then say plainly what is worth building and what is not.
Start with clarity- A decision-ready assessment
- A risk and dependency map
- Workflow and operating constraints
- A clear go or no-go recommendation
- Explicit trade-offs and options
Discovery is our consultancy service. We come in to understand what an organisation actually has: its data, its systems and the processes running on them. Then we establish where optimisation is genuinely available, before anyone commits budget to building.
The problem it addresses
Most organisations know something is inefficient without being able to name it precisely. The data exists, but across systems that were never designed to talk to each other. The process everyone complains about has never been mapped end to end. And the case for an automation or intelligence programme rests on an assumption nobody has tested.
Committing in that state is expensive in two directions. Build the wrong thing and you carry it for years. Build the right thing on data that cannot support it and it fails in production rather than in a workshop, which is the more costly place to find out.
What Discovery involves
Data assessment
What you hold, where it lives, how complete it is, and whether it can carry the system you have in mind.
Process mapping
The workflow as it actually runs rather than as the documentation describes it, including the manual steps people have quietly built around the software.
Opportunity analysis
Where automation, intelligence or straightforward engineering would move the numbers, ranked by effort against return.
Architecture and options
The realistic routes forward, each with its cost, its risk and its dependencies stated rather than implied.
Findings and recommendation
A written assessment your own team can act on, including the recommendation not to proceed where that is the honest answer.
What you leave Discovery with
Artefacts, not a slide deck. Each of these is something your own team can act on without us in the room.
A decision-ready assessment
Clear, grounded options for what to do next, including what not to pursue.
A risk and dependency map
Technical, operational, organisational and governance risks made explicit.
Workflow and operating constraints
Where systems, teams, incentives or processes limit what is realistically achievable.
A clear go or no-go recommendation
Based on evidence rather than optimism or sunk cost.
Explicit trade-offs and options
So leadership can make an informed decision rather than a hopeful one.
Who it is for
Enterprises, scale-ups and established businesses
You leave with
A written read on your data, your processes and where the gains are
Where a competitor would stay quiet
The trade-offs
Discovery produces findings, not a build. If you already know precisely what you need and why, it is an unnecessary step and we will tell you so rather than sell it. It also depends on access: to systems, to data, and to the people who actually run the process. Where that access is limited, the assessment narrows to what we can genuinely see, and we state that boundary in the report instead of writing around it.
The other ways we work.
Build it
Foundry
Engineering & delivery
Building. A senior-led team takes a decision, yours or one that came out of Discovery, through architecture, delivery and release, then stays with the system as load, scope and the business around it grow.
Start it
Rise
Early-stage partnership
Support. For early-stage companies: we participate directly, supplying engineering resource, technical direction and advice to founders and small businesses building their first products, and stay involved as the company grows.
Lead it
Helm
Team assembly & technical leadership
We work out what your next stage actually needs, help you assemble the team for it from our people, your people or the hires you are about to make, and provide the technical leadership to run it. The standard is the same whoever the engineers belong to.
Accelerate it
Kit
Pre-built components & accelerators
Twelve years of production work leaves a lot of solved problems behind. Kit is the tested components, patterns and accelerators we bring into a build so you pay for what is genuinely new rather than for ground the industry has already crossed.
